Apprenticeship Contract
and Professional Training Contract:
Two options for work-study programs.

The Master 1 and Master 2 programs in Health Engineering in Montpellier can be completed through an apprenticeship or a professional training contract. These programs allow students to gain professional experience while continuing their studies.

THE APPRENTICESHIP CONTRACT

The apprenticeship contract is intended for individuals aged 16–29 (as of the start date), or older under certain conditions (such as disability, elite athletes, etc.).

Benefits for the Apprentice:

  • Dual status: An apprentice is not like other students, since he or she is, first and foremost, an employee.
  • Work-study program: gaining practical skills in a company setting and academic instruction at the university. To this end, specific schedules are designed to allow for an effective alternation between periods in the workplace and classes at the university.
  • Compensation: Both the periods spent at the company and at the university are compensated throughout the entire duration of the apprenticeship contract (see the current compensation schedule on the Service-Public website).
  • Work Experience: Enhance your resume with real-world work experience (approximately 9 months at a company).
  • Social benefits: the same rights as other employees (vacation, bonuses, social insurance, unemployment benefits, retirement, etc.).
  • Tax Exemptions: An apprentice’s gross pay is equal to their net pay: there are no social security contributions for the apprentice, who is exempt from payroll taxes up to 78% of the minimum wage (SMIC).
  • A number of financial aid programs specifically for apprentices : Meals, Housing, Driver’s License, International Mobility, Work Incentive Allowance, Transportation, Health Care, …

Benefits for the Company

  • Customized training: the option to train a future employee according to the company’s specific needs.
  • Financial Assistanceand Social Security Exemptions: The company may be eligible for financial assistance and exemptionsfrom socialsecurity contributions. By hiring an apprentice, you can finally make the most of your apprenticeship tax to train your own staff.
  • Dynamism and innovation: Apprentices bring new ideas and renewed energy to the company.
  • Social Responsibility: Contributing to the training and employment of young people.
  • Employee Retention: The opportunity to hire an employee who is already trained and integrated into the company culture.
