January 28, 2026 – Death of J.L. Chanal – former Dean and founder of the Health Engineering program
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Jean-Louis Chanal, former Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and creator of the Health Engineering program.
In September 1991, in the context of the creation of the Instituts Universitaires Professionnalisés (IUP), designed to bring universities closer to the professional world, Jean-Louis Chanal founded the IUP Ingénierie de la Santé from scratch. A visionary and resolutely forward-looking, he very early on involved the industrial world, particularly the pharmaceutical industry, in the development of this innovative training program.
Over the years, he has continuously developed, structured, and improved this program (see "History"), which is now one of the benchmarks in the field of health engineering education. His commitment, strategic vision, and humanity have left a lasting mark on several generations of students and teachers.
